Christmas

This is so off the topic but I have been working on Holiday stuff today and it is on my mind.

While I am thinking about it, I wanted to share with you some great places for shopping and ideas for gifts.

I know money this year is tight for everyone. I have looked online for ideas for different types of gifts this year and came up with some cute gift basket ideas that you can do on your own. Or flower vases but without the flowers, instead using candies, cookies, and toys or a gift card in the center.
Presenting a gift in a unique way makes it all the more special.

Did you notice

that when you post on a blog it doesn’t go top to bottom? It is bottom to top. It is driving me crazy.

So here is another mistake not to make…. that I obviously am making…. know how to work a blog!
I know how to run a website, build an online store, create a website, adding pages, links, do html, but blog….hah…..having a very hard time which is why these posts are such a mess.

I’ve been writing on here as I think of things, getting my thoughts together, not realizing I didn’t have any idea how to switch the posts around, or even if you can.

Something else I wanted to quickly mention is hosting. If you are starting an online business, you need to have a hosting company. There are so many hosting sites out there. In the business I have I actually use 3 different ones but the one I find that works the best for me is Hostgator.

They offer a few options for hosting and while their most popular website package shows their rate as low as 7.95 for the unlimited plan, that is only if you prepay for 3 years. The actual plan is 9.95 a month.

What I like about Hostgator is that with one plan you are allowed to host multiple websites with one domain. So for instance if you have a few mini sites, you sign up with Hostgator under one main site name. You are then able to add you mini sites under that one main site but they will all be listed as if they are their own website-at no additional charge.

Here I am

Trying to decide where to even start. It seems that is pretty much the story of my getting into this venture. I have gone for months with a goal but took forever to reach it. I start reading a website, I see links and click them and end up all over the place. Does that happen to you?

So I then bookmark all these sites, I have so many folders, most probably have the same bookmarks in them since I started trying to organize them-(didn’t work). Then I started putting folders in my email-that didn’t work either.

Next I just deleted a bunch of bookmarks. I gave up. Way too much information overload.

So, the first thing I can say to you is, if you are starting out and looking for information, try to stay within just a few sites. Once you start clicking all over the place some of the information you will read just gets confusing and ends up not making any sense.  Most sites say the same thing in different ways, then others will tell you to do something that another site just told you not to do….talk about confusing!

Wealthy Affiliate

As I said, I have spent months and months reading blogs, manuals, EBOOKS, everything I could find on making money at home, setting up websites, trying something “different”. But I just couldn’t find the help I needed. Then I found Wealthy Affiliate.

Most everything you find online gives you just a bit of information and then wants you to spend more and more money for information that either is too technical, or just plain doesn’t help. And I have a hard time trusting anyone that “wants money” (which I don’t have to keep spending on all these things that don’t work).

Wealthy Affliate isn’t like that. After months of reasearch, and reading every single review I possibly could- everything I found was positive and I decided to give it a try…And I am glad I did!!

You will search online and find all these “millionaire gurus” trying to sell you everything they can, how they get rich..and yes some of them are. I am definately not rich, and not a guru. I don’t make millions. And I don’t push or promote very many things unless I’ve used them myself, and Wealthy Affiliate is something I am happy to promote.

My Search Online

I started by searching online.  I really wanted to get into a new online business other than my retail site.  I was more interested in sharing information. I love research. I am forever looking things up for someone, constantly reviewing every site I can, every product, every persons comments on something.

So research is what started this for me. I wanted to created a site making things easy for others. Because I spend so much time online I started looking for sites that made things easier, gave more information, but never found the “exact” thing I was looking for.
